To celebrate successes, share lessons learned, and prepare for the next grant cycle, please join us for the
2018 STEPP Conference
โ two full days of learning, sharing, and networking. This year we will have a call for abstracts for presentations and posters delivered by grantees, for grantees. Please consider collaborating with your fellow grantees, community partners, and/or TA staff to share your knowledge and expertise!
How to Get Involved with the Conference:
- Participate in the fitness and networking focus groups. We would like to gather grantee input on networking ideas and fitness activities at the conference. To participate in one of the two in-person brainstorming session, please use the link below.
- Join the Abstract Review Team! This includes a three-part commitment:
- Attend an orientation session via Zoom
- Conduct reviews of 3-5 randomly assigned abstracts at your own pace
- Complete a debrief and scheduling exercise
for more information and to sign up to join the Abstract Review Team. Members of the team are still eligible to submit an abstract.
Day 1 Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jonathan Samet, MD, MS
Dr. Samet is the new dean of the Colorado School of Public Health and is a trained pulmonary physician with nearly 40 years of experience in education, health care and research. Considered a top global expert on air pollution and tobacco control, Sametโs accolades include a National Academy of Medicine election, a National Cancer Advisory Board appointment, two Surgeon Generalโs Medallions and the Prince Mahidol Award for Global Health presented by the King of Thailand.
Day 2 Keynote Speaker: Mr. Charles Brown
Mr. Brown is a senior researcher with the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) and adjunct professor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, both at Rutgers University. He has 15 years of public and private sector experience in transportation planning, policy, and research. He is considered a livability and healthy community advocate, a leading voice in encouraging complete streets policy adoption and implementation in New Jersey, and a national thought leader and leading voice in encouraging social equity in active transportation. In September 2017, Charles Brown delivered the plenary lecture at NACDDโs Chronic Disease Academy. In the lecture, titled "
,โ Mr. Brown explains the value of using a social justice lens to explore chronic disease prevention, control and health promotion.
Panel Discussion Announcement: Colorado Tobacco Enforcement Landscape
This breakout session will include an interactive, moderated panel, providing the opportunity to hear about current state and federal tobacco enforcement efforts in Colorado from the programs that are responsible for the work. Weโre pleased to welcome representatives from the FDA Tobacco Enforcement Program, Dept of Revenue Liquor and Tobacco Enforcement Division, the University of Colorado, and the Attorney Generalโs office.
