Adult Cessation Recommendations Updated

On January 19, the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) released their updated recommendation for adult cessation.

The grade has not changed since the previous recommendation:

• A for pharmacotherapy and counseling for adults
• A for counseling for pregnant women
• I for pharmacotherapy for pregnant women
• I for e-cigarettes for cessation

Any service that earns an A or B grade from USPSTF is required to be covered by Medicaid expansion plans and most private insurance plans without cost-sharing.
