Catch Yourself Coping, Not Smoking

UpRISE Youth Action Board (YAB) invites STEPP grantees to support youth in catching themselves coping, not smoking. This advocacy activity brings awareness about the many coping strategies young people can use instead of tobacco/nicotine or other substances. The brief activity is a spin on the fortune teller (cootie catcher), we are calling it a ‘coping catcher’. Young people will be educated on how using nicotine increases stress responses and invites young people to reflect on the different types of coping strategies they can use instead of using nicotine. This activity includes a sheet of directions and ‘coping catcher’ template. If interested in learning more, please contact Daniel Martinez if interested at daniel.4.martinez@cuanschutz.edu.
