Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act (CCIAA) Updated

In May, Governor Polis signed House Bill 19-1076 into law, thereby updating the CCIAA. Beginning July 1st, the use of electronic smoking devices will be prohibited in most public indoor settings. All business, including bars and restaurants will now be smoke and vape free. The only remaining businesses exempt from the law are cigar bars, retail tobacco shops and retail vape shops. Additionally, exemptions for hotels, motels, small business, and assisted living facilities were removed from the law. The perimeter around the main entryway to public buildings was extended to 25 feet, although the CCIAA grandfathers in communities that have a lesser entryway perimeter codified as of January 1, 2019. Signs reflecting the new 25-foot setback that businesses can download and print are now live on the Tobacco Free CO news item.
