Colorado legislative update

House Bill 22-1064 “Prohibit Flavored Tobacco Regulate Synthetic Nicotine” was introduced in the Colorado House on January 14, 2022, and assigned to the Health & Insurance Committee. The first hearing is on March 9 at 1:30 p.m. The bill proposes to prohibit tobacco retailers from selling or advertising flavored cigarettes, nicotine products, or other tobacco products. It proposes an update to the definition of tobacco products in state statutes and proposes a new tobacco control grant program to address the needs of communities disproportionately impacted by tobacco and nicotine marketing, sales, and use.
