Colorado School of Public Health TA Receives Award from the Tobacco Review Committee

On January 17, the Tobacco Review Committee presented an award to the Colorado School of Public Health TA team, โ€œfor providing exemplary support to local public health grantees and for achievements improving the health of Coloradans.โ€

The committee hears updates on the great work grantees are accomplishing. STEPP highlights grantee accomplishments in the newsletter and in update calls with grantees. โ€œToday, we want to publicly recognize and celebrate those working behind the scenes with such great effect,โ€ said TRC chair, Dr. Tracy Hofeditz. STEPP congratulates Erin Bertoli, Wendy Morrison and Tracey Doyle with the Colorado School of Public Health TA Team. They have each done an outstanding job and STEPP appreciates their invaluable contributions and achievements. The whole TA team continues to regularly adapt, reorganize and customize support in order to ensure the needs of grantees are not only met but exceeded, providing the highest level of support and encouragement. Their diligence and commitment have made this a record-setting year for local policy change.

What does a record-setting year for local policy change look like?

From 2015-2018, there were 6 local retail policies that passed. In 2019, there were 17 local tobacco retailer licensing ordinances that passed, 18 communities that passed an increase in the minimum legal sales age to 21 and 5 ordinances with flavor bansโ€ Doyle and Morrison were in attendance to accept the award, as well as a certificate for all CSPH team members. Congratulations, CSPH TA Team!
