Comments Open on FDA Proposed Rules Prohibiting Menthol Cigarettes and Flavored Cigars
In late April,
the FDA released two proposed rules
prohibiting menthol as a characterizing flavor in cigarettes, and prohibiting all characterizing flavors in cigars. The docket for public comment on these two rules is open until July 5th, and grantees are encouraged to share their feedback with the FDA. Wondering what to share and how to comment?
- Find talking points, guidance on drafting your comments, and other resources from the Public Health Law Center here for the rule on menthol cigarettes and here for the rule on flavored cigars.
- Find additional resources here from the Center for Black Health and Equity. The Center is also compiling comments from the community to submit to the FDA.
- The FDA was also holding two virtual public listening sessions on June 13th and June 15th. The deadline to sign up to make public comments during the listening sessions was June 6th.
