Grantee Update: Baby & Me Tobacco-Free
Since CDPHEβs tobacco grant program began funding the Baby & Me Tobacco Free (BMTF) program 2012, Baby & Me Tobacco Free has successfully helped more than four thousand pregnant moms quit smoking during pregnancy and stay quit after delivery.
According to
conducted by the University of Colorado and published last week in the journal of Public Health Nursing, those enrolled in the program saw preterm births decrease between 24 and 28 percent and neonatal intensive care unit admission drop between 25 and 55 percent, compared to their smoking counterparts. The study also found that BMTF saves the state between $1.4 million and $4.1 million each year. To read more about the program and its results see this story from Colorado Public Radio:
We want to recognize the important and impactful work of the BMTF program statewide. Thank you to all those who implement and support the program. Additionally, some grantees may want to highlight their BMTF activities in their local media outlets. Consider using
published as a starting point and enter your local data and quotes to send to relevant outlets. Please contact Zach Dunlop,
