Local Flavor Policy Workgroup

We hope you are all excited about the Flavored/Menthol Tobacco momentum that Colorado communities and other tobacco control organizations/communities across the U.S. are experiencing. While this excitement and support has recently ramped up, this momentum has been building in Colorado for some time.In 2018, the state’s Tobacco Attitude and Behavior survey reported that 56.8% of Coloradans surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that flavored tobacco (including menthol) sales should be prohibited.Flavor/menthol policy restrictions work; they reduce initiation and access to flavored tobacco products, and increase quit attempts and successful quitting. We want to make you aware of some upcoming flavor/menthol sales restrictions conversations and the Flavors Cohort pilot project. During the August Point of Sale Learning Community call we will introduce the Flavors Cohort project. We encourage all communities to join this conversation and learn about this work, ask questions, and be informed. For additional information or questions feel free to contact: Eric Brodell, eric.brodell@cuanschutz.edu, Jenna Metzinger, jenna.metzinger@cuanschutz.edu or Terry Rousey, terry.rousey@state.co.us.
