New Colorado Medical Society Policy on Vaping
The Colorado Medical Society (CMS), recently changed their policies around vaping screening to reflect their recognition of youth vaping and tobacco use as a public health crisis. The revised policy calls for additional research, stronger regulatory actions, and standardized screening and education for all youth. To review the full policy, visit this page. Grantees can use this new policy to engage or reengage local health systems and health neighborhood partners. It can serve as a prompt to engage them in discussions around vaping, but also encouraging systems changes to include all tobacco product use. The CMS policy supports a number of tobacco/vaping policy changes. Grantees can also use this policy change when meeting with policymakers, and in encouraging clinicians to support local tobacco control policy. Please share widely with partners, policymakers, and local health systems. Contact Zach Dunlop at zach.dunlop@state.co.us for more information.
