Quitline Resource Requests - October 19, 2023
Chances are, you’ve received an email from me asking you to connect with a local provider or organization that is requesting resources from the QuitLine. If you haven’t, you will eventually. Rather than respond directly to these requests, the program consciously forwards them to grantees so you can establish or strengthen relationships with providers in your community to better promote tobacco treatment resources. These items and more are available for order at www.cohealthresources.org. Back in February, we highlighted the work of Brandon Gray, Community Health Planner in Mesa County, and his efforts to fulfill these requests. We recently checked back in with Brandon, and he shared some challenges as well as a new approach that is yielding more effective results, here is what he had to say: “In the past, I first reached out to discuss what the person’s needs were via phone, and once the items we ordered came in, I went to deliver them and meet them in person. Unfortunately, people were busy when I went to deliver items and were unable to meet. More recently, I delivered some Quitline materials that I had on standby and took the opportunity to meet in person first to work on building the relationship and assess needs before placing the order. It also helped to talk to them about the TFCA and discuss a potential key informant interview with them! They were interested in being a part of the process and learning more about the data we have available.” Thanks, Brandon, and keep up the great work!
