STEPP FY22 and FY23 Extension Decisions
The Tobacco Review Committee met on Friday, 2/19/21 to make funding recommendations to the Board of Health (BOH) to extend funding for selected grant projects for two additional years.
The State Tobacco Education, Cessation and Prevention Partnership (STEPP) grant program is extending the current grant cycle for two years, through FY23, to allow more time to ensure an inclusive and comprehensive strategic planning process for the next funding cycle.
The following criteria were used by STEPP staff to develop the extension recommendations:
- Advancing health equity and reducing health disparities
- Alignment with strategic direction
- Sustainability of essential tobacco control infrastructure
- Performance and results to date (including evaluation and cost-effectiveness)
Based on the above criteria, these funding recommendations were approved by the Tobacco Review Committee on Friday, 2/19/2021. The Board of Health will need to approve these extensions. Grantees selected for extended funding will receive information about contract negotiations in the upcoming weeks. Here is a tentative timeline moving forward:
- March 2021 - CDPHE will seek BOH approval on the funding extensions.
- Spring 2021 - Contract extension negotiations with grantees and STEPP staff.
- July 1, 2021 - Contract extensions execution target date (start of FY22).
The next competitive RFA will be released in the Summer of 2022 for the next 3-5 year grant cycle (beginning in FY2024). Please reach out to your STEPP point of contact with any questions. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the tobacco control work and commitment to improving the health of Coloradans. Natalya Verscheure Tobacco Program Manager
