Systematic Review: Health Effects from Secondhand Exposure to E-Cigarettes: A Systematic Review of Peer-Reviewed Articles from 2004–2024
A new 20‑year review of peer‑reviewed research confirms that secondhand exposure to e‑cigarette aerosol carries real health risks. Non‑users exposed to vape aerosol experienced respiratory irritation, asthma flare‑ups, cardiovascular changes, and elevated nicotine biomarkers. Some studies also linked exposure to higher rates of anxiety and sleep disruption. The findings reinforce the importance of strong vape‑free policies in homes, workplaces, and public spaces to protect children, families, and community members.
