Cessation

Updated Review on Smoking Cessation Interventions

Read the full study here. Earlier this year, JAMA published an updated systematic review on different cessation methods. All FDA-approved pharmacotherapies (alone or combined), behavioral interventions (including advice from clinicians), and pharmacotherapy with behavioral interventions all outperformed โ€œminimal careโ€ or placebo, and no FDA-approved pharmacotherapy was associated with serious adverse events. Ecigs findings were mixed, and one of nine studies associated ecig use with serious adverse events. Among pregnant women, the review found that, in late pregnancy, behavioral interventions outperformed other interventions, including NRT.
