If menthol cigarettes are allowed to stay in the marketplace, the lives of African Americans and others remain at increased risk. Conversely, removing these terrible products will benefit not only the black community but also other racial and ethnic groups, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, youth, and those with behavioral health conditions since these groups also disproportionately smoke mentholated cigarettes over non-mentholated cigarettes.
