How to Find Approved Materials

All materials in the portal have been reviewed and approved by the Colorado Tobacco-Free Communities program team. This guide explains how to search and filter the library efficiently so you spend less time looking and more time doing.

Use this guide when you need to:

  • You need a specific type of material (e.g. a poster, a social media graphic, a factsheet)
  • You want to see everything available for a particular campaign or topic
  • You're not sure what's available and want to browse

Why approved-only matters

The program requires that all public-facing materials be sourced from the approved library. Using unapproved materials — even well-intentioned ones from outside sources — can create compliance issues and inconsistent messaging. When in doubt, use what's in the portal.

Important: If you need something you can't find in the library, use the Get Help page to submit a customization request. The program team can often help create or source what you need.

Searching the library

  1. Start with a keyword Type a topic, campaign name, format, or audience into the search bar at the top of the Find Materials page. Results update as you type. Try broad terms first (e.g. "youth") then narrow down with filters.
  2. Use the filter panel On the left side, use the filter panel to narrow by Audience, Topic, Format, and Campaign. You can select multiple values in each category. Active filters appear as tags at the top of the results.
  3. Sort results Use the sort dropdown (top right of results) to sort by Newest, Most Downloaded, or Alphabetical. Newest is the default.
  4. Open a resource card Click any card to open the resource detail page. There you'll see a full description, preview images, download options, and related materials.

Understanding the filter categories

  1. Audience Who the material is designed for. Options include General Public, Youth, Parents & Caregivers, Healthcare Providers, Employers, and Landlords & Property Managers.
  2. Topic The tobacco-related subject matter. Examples: Secondhand Smoke, E-Cigarettes & Vaping, Cessation, Smoke-Free Policies, Youth Prevention.
  3. Format The file type or media type. Options include Poster, Factsheet, Social Media Graphic, Video, Toolkit, Presentation, and Article & Guidance.
  4. Campaign The specific program campaign the material belongs to. This is useful when you want to stay within a single brand campaign across all your materials.

Downloading and saving

From any resource detail page you can download the file directly or save it to your account for later.

  • Click Download to get the file. Most materials are available as PDF and/or PNG.
  • Some toolkits download as a ZIP file containing multiple assets.
  • Click Save to bookmark the resource to your account. Find saved items on your Account page.
  • Use the Share button to copy a direct link to send to a colleague.
Print-ready files: If a material shows a "Print Hub" badge, you can also order it professionally printed through the Print Hub rather than printing it yourself.
